I am a teacher and organizational leader who has impacted more than 12,000 students outside of my School Board role. In my first term on the Minneapolis Board of Education, I focused on students, providing a stable voice of reason, and led the effort to establish a governance structure that keeps the Board focused on a better future for our students.

I taught 4th grade science and reading in the Atlanta Public Schools District and over 95% of my students received free or reduced lunch, many of whom were academically far behind their grade level. Seeing students beat the odds and make significant gains energizes and inspires me

I joined Students Today Leaders Forever as Co-executive Director, where for the past six years, I have worked with middle school, high school, and college students to help them reveal their passions and put them to use for a better world through direct action and community service.

I live in Bryn Mawr with my partner, Daniela, an elementary school principal. In my spare time, I love to read, write parody songs, and play disc golf and basketball.
